I am uncertain how the system works. I filled out the form on the server and understood that I would receive an email from takeahop which I would have to acknowledge before the request was sent to each base. However, I never received anything back. Am I incorrect in my understanding?
You're correct in your understanding.
The reality is, unfortunately, that a number of e-mail providers do not let Takeahop's e-mails through. It's possible that your provider incorrectly considered the Takeahop server to be a source of spam, which of course, is isn't. Another problem is often your own e-mail program's spam filter.
I'd first suggest that you check your spam/bulk/junk mail folders.
If the e-mails are not landing in your spam folder, then either:
a) contact your Internet provider and encourage them to allow Takeahop.org/.com/.net e-mails through.
and/or
b) try using a different e-mail provider. While it is a bit inconvenient, this usually does the trick for you.
